How to start trading on Injective Perps (Helix)
Step by step from account to first trade and withdrawal, based only on Injective Perps (Helix)’s own documentation (checked 10 Oct 2026). Each step links to the page it comes from.
- CollateralUSDC (all 285 active perps are quoted in USDC on-chain; older Helix docs still say USDT)
- KYCNot required
Not available in some regions, including US Persons (perpetual contracts), Canadian Persons, UK Persons, Afghanistan, Burundi, Central African Republic, Cuba, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Eritrea, Guinea-Bissau, Iran, Iraq and 15 more (terms). Check the terms for your country before depositing.
1. Create an account
- Helix is the trading frontend for Injective's on-chain order book. Click the sign-up button in the top right of the Helix app and choose email or a Web3 wallet. source ↗
- Email sign-up works with Google SSO or by typing your email, and it automatically creates a new wallet address, with no browser extension needed. The sign-up guide has no KYC step. source ↗
- Helix supports 10+ wallets, including MetaMask, Keplr, Ledger and Phantom. Pick one and sign the message that lets Helix connect. source ↗
2. Deposit collateral
- You can send funds to your Helix account address from Injective Mainnet or from an exchange that supports Injective. The docs list Binance, OKX, Bybit, Bitget, Upbit, KuCoin and Kraken. source ↗
- From other networks such as Ethereum or Solana, bridge funds in. The recommended bridges are Injective Bridge, Wormhole Portal Bridge and Skip, and IBC-enabled chains can also send funds. source ↗
- If you connect with MetaMask and have USDT on Ethereum, Helix offers to bridge it over in two clicks. You can also buy INJ with a card through the Buy Crypto widget, where available in your country. source ↗
3. Open your first position
- Click Trade in the top bar and pick a market from the markets dropdown. The docs strongly suggest a limit order over a market order: type a price, click a price in the order book, or click mid. source ↗
- Enter the amount in the quote currency or the asset, set leverage with the slider or the input box, then click Buy / Long to open a long. Sign in your wallet unless Auto-Sign is on. To close, click the trash-bin icon next to the position and confirm. source ↗
- Order types are Limit, Market, Stop-Limit and Stop-Market. Options include Post Only (limit orders), Reduce Only (all orders), custom slippage for market orders and TP/SL. source ↗
- After your first trade Helix may offer Auto-Sign, which lets you trade for 3 days without approving each transaction. You can switch it on or off with the A button next to your wallet settings. source ↗
4. Know how liquidation works
- A position is liquidated when its margin falls below the maintenance margin. The exchange force-closes it at the market price, and you can lose your whole initial margin. source ↗
- Mark price, not the last trade, is used for unrealized PnL and liquidation, and it comes from oracles such as Pyth and Stork. Funding is paid hourly: longs pay shorts when the rate is positive and shorts pay longs when it is negative. source ↗
- Maximum leverage depends on the market. Pre-IPO and index perps are capped at 5x. source ↗
5. Withdraw
- The Helix docs do not describe a standard withdrawal flow. The wallet-migration guide moves assets out via Portfolio, then Balances, then a transfer to another address, after closing positions and cancelling orders. source ↗
6. Common mistakes
- When depositing from a wallet, send funds on Injective Mainnet to your Helix address. When depositing from an exchange, make sure the exchange supports Injective. source ↗
- Stock, FX and commodity perps (iAssets) trade 24/7, but their oracle prices only update during market hours. Outside those hours your PnL does not move until the next price update. source ↗
- Anyone can launch a market on Helix. Some pairs carry a green verified badge, usually for community support or steady high volume and a trusted team. source ↗
- Email wallets were moved to a new provider (Turnkey) in June 2025. Users of the old email wallet had to move their funds to the new address shown in the app. source ↗
Before you trade
Perpetual futures use leverage: a small price move against you can liquidate your collateral. Start with a small amount and low leverage, and read the venue’s current fee and margin pages, which can change after this guide was checked.
