1. Create an account
2. Deposit collateral
3. Open your first position
- In Trade, click the pair name to pick a market marked PERP. Market is the default: choose buy or sell, enter the amount, set leverage, check margin, price impact and fee, then click Buy or Sell and approve in your wallet. source ↗
- For a limit order, open the Limit tab and enter a price. Unfilled orders appear under Open Orders. To close a position, click Close and confirm; it closes at the market price. source ↗
- On Base, BTC-USDC and ETH-USDC perps charge 0.05% on market orders, give a 0% limit-order rebate and charge a 0.02 USDC execution fee. Minimum sizes are 166.66 USDC for market trades and 333 USDC for limit orders. source ↗
4. Know how liquidation works
- A position below its maintenance margin can be liquidated, either taken over by a liquidator or force-closed against the AMM. source ↗
- If a liquidated position is bankrupt and the pair's insurance fund cannot cover it, the loss is shared by profitable positions on the other side. This social loss can get you liquidated before your shown liquidation price. source ↗
- Mark price comes from the spot index price plus a daily interest part, and it sets PnL, margin needs and liquidations. The side receiving funding can get more or less than the shown rate. source ↗
5. Withdraw
- In Portfolio, click Withdraw, enter the amount, click Withdraw in the dialog and confirm in your wallet. The tutorial says there is no lock-in period or large withdrawal fee. source ↗
- Realized-profit withdrawals are throttled per pair, for example 25,000 USDC on BTC and ETH pairs on Base. Above that, you may wait up to 24 hours. source ↗
6. Common mistakes
- Community-listed pairs are riskier, use 10% initial margin and can be delisted with 24 hours' notice on Discord. Open positions are then settled at the market or fair price. source ↗
- Once a limit order is taken it cannot be cancelled, even before it becomes a position. If you see a Fill button next to the order, click it to finish. source ↗
- Trades that would move the fair price far from the mark price are reverted. If you cannot close for this reason, close in smaller parts or wait. source ↗
- Unrealized profit cannot be withdrawn from a position's margin. Opening a position at a price worse than the mark price needs extra margin, so not every trade can use the pair's maximum leverage. source ↗
Before you trade
Perpetual futures use leverage: a small price move against you can liquidate your collateral. Start with a small amount and low leverage, and read the venue’s current fee and margin pages, which can change after this guide was checked.
