Gains gTrade: a venue boundary before a perp ranking

Gains Network's gTrade offers live leveraged trading across crypto and traditional-market references. Its product belongs in a perp venue inventory, but its provider open-interest row does not establish a comparable 30-day perp series.

What is the product?

Gains Network presents gTrade as a wallet-connected leveraged trading platform. Its technical documentation describes oracle-based pricing with spread and price-impact parameters rather than an order book matching two customer orders. The product documentation lists crypto pairs and explains that leveraged positions are opened against reference prices. This supports identifying gTrade as a distinct trading product, not a frontend to one of the eleven PerpsAtlas venues.

The label ‘perp’ needs care here. A continuing leveraged position and an exchange-traded perpetual future can have different funding, borrowing, counterparty and settlement mechanics. Our inventory uses the broader verified product description while retaining the exact contract-definition question for metric admission. A DefiLlama derivatives row cannot answer that question for us.

Traditional reference assets do not become spot holdings

The current Gains site lists crypto, forex, stocks, indices and commodities among the reference markets. A trader's leveraged position on a stock or commodity price is not ownership of that stock or commodity. The underlying exchange calendar and the venue's own market schedule can differ. An RWA-related label therefore describes the price reference, not tokenized ownership or a separate exchange.

For research, the market list must be captured by instrument and date. We should not turn the site's broad asset-class claim into a fabricated count of active perpetual instruments. We also should not add a venue-wide leveraged-trading number to a narrower crypto-perp total without classifying every included market.

What a comparable adapter must prove

The public open-interest directory gives Gains Network a provider identity, but the capture has no provider observation timestamp for individual rows. Its fetch time proves when we obtained the directory, not when an open position was measured. We have therefore retained the provider ID and raw-response hash as discovery provenance and omitted its reported open interest from this analysis.

A ranking adapter needs an official transaction or position source; a market list identifying each eligible contract; the unit and USD conversion rule; an exact UTC window; and a rule for openings, reductions, liquidations and any cross-chain duplicate. We would retain the raw bytes and source hash, then compare the calculated daily figures with the provider's product scope. A source or basis change starts a new series. No 30-day volume, open interest, fees, revenue or holder-flow figure is asserted here.

The token is a separate review

The Gains product and a claim attached to a token are separate questions. An official fee description can document a rule, but it is not a reconciled record of fees collected, transfers to recipients or amounts received by a holder. We have not admitted any GNS holder-flow number or assigned a token value from trading activity.

Coverage decision: gTrade enters the verified expansion section because official current product pages support active leveraged markets. It remains outside the comparable ranking until contract scope and historical daily data pass independent review. The next review should capture the current instrument list and the official API or contracts that can reproduce a closed UTC day, then check whether provider and native definitions overlap. Unknown fields remain unknown rather than zero.

What we monitor next

  • Verify the contract definition and active instrument list against current official product or on-chain data.
  • Build and archive an official daily adapter with UTC boundaries, units and versioned market scope.
  • Reconcile any token distribution claim to actual dated transfers before publishing holder flow.

Frequently asked questions

Is gTrade a frontend to another exchange?

The official Gains product describes its own leveraged trading system with oracle-priced execution. The current review treats it as a distinct product, while quantitative overlap still needs adapter review.

Why is Gains not in the volume ranking?

The available discovery row does not establish a source-dated, product-scoped, comparable 30-day volume series. Its absence from that table is a data gate, not a zero-volume claim.
